The finals of both the scratch and handicap championship finals were closely contested this afternoon over a rather damp Kirkcaldy golf club. In the scratch championship, top qualifier Evanna Hynd took on Gillian Paton, and in the Handicap championship, Ann Shepherd played Wendy O'Donnell. Both finals were decided on the 18th and were tight throughout. There were a good number of supporters out on the course, all were thankful that the temperatures were higher than yesterday, albeit at the cost of a persistent rain showers.
The scratch final provided a great display of golf, with plenty of birdies between the 2 players. With 17 holes played, they were all square and a couple of nervy tee shots on the par 3 18th left the green clear. Evanna played a good pitch on to the putting surface, however Gillian clinched the match by chipping in for birdie from just off the green.
In the handicap final, Ann took the early lead, and was 2 up after 5, however Wendy fought back to gain a slim advantage and held it to win the trophy on 18.
