Fife County
Ladies Golf Association
Rules
for Winter League 2024-25
1. Each club can enter up to two teams in the Winter League – one team to represent Division 1(Handicap Index up to 20.9) and / or one team to represent Division 2 (Handicap Index 21 to 36).
2. Each team consists of two players who will compete as a four-ball pair. Team members need not necessarily be the same for each match but players can only play for one club in the Winter League.
3. Player’s selected to play in matches by their club are limited to FCLGA members. Each club should select the teams and where necessary the teams should be drawn by ballot.
4. Players are eligible to be selected to represent their club in Division 1 or Division 2 based on their handicap index as at 1st October but players should use their current handicaps at time of matches being played.
5. The competition is a league format with all clubs participating throughout the winter with home and away ties – the number of leagues will be determined by the number of participating clubs.
6. All matches will be played as four-ball handicap matches with the handicap allowance for each player being 90% of their course handicap for the course being played. After handicap allowances have been calculated, the player with the lowest handicap pays off zero strokes relative to the other players and the other players receive the difference between their handicap allowance and that of the player with the lowest handicap. Stroke allocations are based on course card.
7. The Divisional Fixtures will be found on the left-hand side of the home page of the website
8. The home club should contact the away club as soon as possible to arrange dates.
9. The home club should give at least 3 alternative dates – on different days including a weekend.
10. The home club will be expected to contact their opponents in good time before the deadline, but the opponents will also be responsible for making sure that there is contact from the home club to arrange a date. Away clubs must respond as soon as is practical and within 7 days – failure to do so will result in the home team choosing the date.
11. It is both the home and away teams’ responsibility to keep each other informed about known dates that would make arranging ties difficult – such as holidays.
12. In the event of the match not being arranged/played by the prescribed date the FCLGA committee will make a decision on the outcome of the match.
13. If the home club’s course is unplayable on the arranged date the match should be played on the away course. Players must accept the conditions of a course being played at the time of their match in the spirit of winter golf – for example the use of mats and winter greens.
14. If a match cannot be played when the teams arrive at the given course and it is closed due to ground or weather conditions and neither club can raise a team before the deadline by exception, an extension of 1 week will be allowed by the FCLGA committee to play the match. If the course remains closed it will be deemed a drawn match with 1 point each.
15. The home team representative should notify the result of each match as soon as possible to the FCLGA results email address – fclgaresults@googlegroups.com
16. There will be 2 points for a win and 1 point for a halved match. In the unlikely event of a conceded game 2 points will be awarded and the match deemed a 4/3 win.
17. Any finals will be played on a course nominated by the Committee - at a date and time to be agreed by the Committee.
18. If courtesy of the course being played is not granted then the green fee should be split between all players.
