East of Scotland Girls Championship 2017

More great news for our Juniors

Eilidh Henderson is East of Scotland Girls' Champion

Eilidh Henderson, Loretto School, beat Porscha Wilson, Burntisland, by 5 & 4 in today's (posted Tues 11th July) final of the East of Scotland Girls Championship at Bathgate Golf Club. Congratulations to both Eilidh and Porscha on a keenly contested final played in a friendly manner. The girls played excellent golf over the past two days. Well done to our new Champion, Eilidh.

Report of Final.

After the cold and sometimes wet day of the Summer Meeting and Quarter Finals on Monday, at last the sun shone for the girls. This year's final was contested by two Fife girls, Porscha Wilson and Eilidh Henderson. Porscha won the first to go 1up but Eilidh won the 2nd to square the match. Holes 3, 4 and 5 were halved then Eilidh won the 6th to go 1 up. She also won the 7th with a par and the 9th with a birdie to be 3 up after 9 holes. Eilidh won the 10th to go 4 up. At the 12th, Porscha's second shot was blocked by trees on the left hand side of the fairway, so Eilidh won the hole with a par to go 5up. With the next two holes halved, Eilidh won the match 5 & 4 and became East of Scotland Girls Champion for 2017.

Congratulations to both girls on their high standard of golf throughout the match. Eilidh was 2 under par (33) for the first 9 holes and parred the remaining holes. Thank you to Sarah Walker, Captain of Stirling & Clackmannan, for refereeing this year's final.

Congratulations to you both from all at Fife County

Scottish Senior Women's Championship

Congratulations to our Vice President, Lorna McKinlay, on an excellent performance in the Scottish Senior Women's Championship played last week over the Rosemount course, Blairgowrie, producing Fiona de Vries (St. Rule) as Champion after defeating defending champion, Sheena Wood ( Aberdeen Ladies) by 5&4 in a quality final.

After 36 holes stroke play in very challenging conditions, Lorna comfortably qualified in tied twelfth position and went on in the matchplay stages to defeat former Internationals Alison Bartlett (Royal Dornoch) and Anne Ryan (Tain) by 4&3 and 2 holes respectively.

The semi final was full of good golf and good spirit and it took a birdie 4 by Sheena Wood at the 19th hole to end Lorna's chances.

Well done, Lorna.

(Thanks to Lorna Bennett for the above report)
